Is advanced endpoint security a commodity for business?

There’s a view that ‘traditional’ endpoint protection has become a commodity. You can use whatever Endpoint Security solution you’d like as ‘basic’ protection – then complement it with an ‘advanced threat protection’ solution focusing on the most complex malware as well as targeted attacks and APTs. Kaspersky therefore asks, is it safe to treat endpoint protection as a commodity in this way?
