LifeTech Group (LifeTech), a leading managed cybersecurity services provider in Southeast Asia, based in Malaysia, has partnered with Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, to transform its Security Operations Centre (SOC).
The collaboration will establish LifeTech’s first in-country SOC on Amazon Web Services (AWS) within Malaysia.
LifeTech selected Kyndryl to support the development of its next-generation SOC, enabling Malaysian enterprises to maintain their data securely within the country on the AWS platform. The upgraded SOC aims to reduce the cost of security operations for these organisations by up to 40%.
The partnership will also boost LifeTech’s cybersecurity capabilities, allowing them to offer customers improved cyber resilience assessments, address emerging threats more effectively, gain greater visibility into vulnerabilities and meet the data residency compliance requirements set by Bank Negara Malaysia, the central bank.
Launched in 1989, LifeTech has a long-standing history of providing managed cybersecurity services across various sectors in the region, including financial services, healthcare, government, manufacturing, e-commerce, retail, telecommunications and education. In addition to the SOC transformation project, Kyndryl will collaborate with LifeTech to deliver essential cybersecurity services such as threat intelligence, incident response and managed detection and response.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision to deliver innovative, scalable and resilient cybersecurity solutions that help LifeTech and Kyndryl customers protect critical business data and applications in a security-rich infrastructure using in-country cloud infrastructure,” said Effendi Azmi Hashim, Managing Director, Kyndryl Malaysia and Indonesia.
The partnership will enable LifeTech and Kyndryl to implement a state-of-the-art next-generation SOC platform, adopting the Kyndryl Security Intelligence and Automation framework. The framework will increase detection, response and operational efficiencies for organisations in Malaysia and the wider region.
The security operations transformation programme will include the migration and integration of customer platforms and threat intelligence to a unified platform for robust monitoring, automation, and analytics, enabling faster searches, queries and investigations while reducing the costs associated with on-premises security infrastructure.
The programme also entails a shift towards advanced capabilities such as proactive risk mitigation planning, perception management, skills development, and continuous improvement, alongside a full lifecycle approach to addressing cyber threats through optimised services in risk assessment, compliance, and threat visibility.
Additionally, Zero Trust Services will be implemented to safeguard critical business assets through identity, endpoint and cloud security solutions, with advanced detection, response capabilities, automation and incident forensics also being deployed.
“Our collaboration with Kyndryl marks a significant step in enhancing our ability to safeguard organisations in Malaysia while keeping their critical data in-country,” said Dato’ KK Loh, Chairman and CEO, LifeTech Group.
“By transforming our Security Operations Centre using a next-generation unified platform, we are empowering our customers across multiple industries, including National Critical Information Infrastructure, to strengthen their cyber resilience, respond swiftly to threats and navigate an increasingly complex security landscape with confidence, while significantly reducing costs.”
