Red Alpha appoints Chief Information Security Officer-in-Residence to address Singapore’s cybersecurity talent shortage

Strategic move reinforces the company’s commitment to bridging Singapore’s cybersecurity talent gap.

Red Alpha, a leading cybersecurity and technology talent development company based in Singapore, has appointed Pang Tzer Yeu as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)-in-Residence.

This strategic move reinforces the company’s commitment to bridging Singapore’s cybersecurity talent gap.

In his new role, Pang will align training programs with rapidly evolving industry demands, equip trainees with essential cybersecurity skills and mentor them. He will also drive new initiatives, enhance deployment strategies with partners and strengthen collaboration with government agencies and regulators, in line with Red Alpha’s mission to develop cyber and tech talent, focusing on non-traditional manpower resources.

The cybersecurity industry is facing a global talent shortage, with organisations struggling to find job-ready professionals. In Singapore alone, there is an estimated gap of nearly 4,000 cybersecurity professionals.

Hands-on training is essential in addressing this gap, keeping professionals up to date with the latest tools, techniques and tactics to combat emerging threats in this constantly changing field. As threats evolve, Red Alpha is meeting the demand by providing hands-on training that prepares individuals for immediate industry deployment.

“The biggest challenge in cybersecurity today isn’t just technology – it’s talent,” said Pang.

“Cyber is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and organisations need skilled professionals who can stay abreast of developments. Red Alpha is at the forefront of cybersecurity talent development, ensuring that our trainees are ready to defend Singapore’s digital future.

By leveraging its unique assessment and selection methodology, Red Alpha is creating a new pipeline for proactive, high-calibre cybersecurity professionals outside of the traditional talent pool, strengthening the quantity and quality of Singapore’s cybersecurity ecosystem. I’m honoured to join the team in shaping the next generation of cybersecurity experts.”

With over 20 years of experience, Pang is a cybersecurity leader who has shaped national strategies, defended critical infrastructure and developed elite talent.

A seasoned CISO, he has played a key role in strengthening Singapore’s cybersecurity across the public and private sectors, including the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), the Ministry of Defence of Singapore (MINDEF), and Mediacorp. His deep understanding of emerging threats, evolving job roles, and the talent development gap positions him as a driving force in Red Alpha’s mission to bridge Singapore’s cybersecurity talent shortage.

Yoav Korman, Managing Director, Red Alpha, said: “The cybersecurity skills gap continues to be a pressing issue for organisations across Singapore. Our mission is to equip professionals with the technical expertise and hands-on experience required to protect critical systems. With Mr Pang leading our cybersecurity initiatives, we are confident in our ability to nurture industry-ready talent equipped with the right blend of technical expertise and industry insights, strengthening Singapore’s cybersecurity workforce.”

Red Alpha’s intensive cybersecurity bootcamp bridges the talent gap with hands-on, real-world training. Only the top 1% of applicants undergo a 4-6 month deep-dive program, earning certifications like SANS SEC504 and OffSec PEN-200.
