Leader in Combat Sports seals new agreement and adds technical tools to detect and eliminate illegal broadcasts of ONE Events, while expanding Globant Sportian’s presence in Asia.
Sportian, the sports division of Globant, a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technological solutions, has announced a partnership with ONE Championship, the world’s largest martial arts organisation, to protect its content from piracy.
Utilising Globant Sportian’s Content Protection services, an evolution of the services originally developed by the LALIGA football league, illegal broadcasts can be detected in real-time and tracked on streaming sites, apps, VOD platforms, search engines, social networks and IPTV, enabling quick blocks that will help ONE protect the value of global broadcast agreements.
With Asia’s largest global sports property, ONE broadcasts weekly events to an audience spanning more than 190 countries. In this regard, the popularity of its events, which include mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing and submission grappling, has generated an increase in content piracy that threatens the organisation’s future growth.
With this, Globant Sportian offers the most robust anti-piracy network for sports and entertainment, using advanced detection, analysis and visualisation tools to identify the source of piracy and stop its spread.
With a team of analysts working closely with more than 70 of the world’s leading online platforms and holding TCRP certification (from Google’s Portuguese ‘copyright takedown program for trusted partners’), Globant Sportian’s Content Protection successfully removes more than 98% of the piracy it detects.
The technical information collected by Globant Sportian’s Content Protection services also plays an important role in subsequent legal cases, leading to Dynamic Blocking orders against criminal networks around the world.
James Marsh, Vice President of Global Media Rights at ONE Championship, said: “Piracy is a serious problem that requires speed and accuracy to combat any illegal transmission and protect our intellectual property and our broadcast partners. Globant Sportian has demonstrated their commitment to innovating in this space for many years, and we look forward to working with them to ensure our programming is secure in the future.”
Pablo Lo Giudice, Business Lead for Content Protection at Sportian, added: “ONE Championship is one of the most exciting growth stories in the sport, which makes it a key target for piracy rings that focus on siphoning money away from fans of the industry. We are excited to establish a new partnership in Asia that will reduce the impact piracy can have on fan experiences, broadcast deals and local jobs.”
