Bridewell, a leading UK cybersecurity firm, has appointed Ray Stanton, a highly experienced security expert and business leader, as Board Adviser. His role will support the company’s growth strategy within CNI and build new customer and partner relationships.
Taking up his new role with immediate effect, Stanton will draw on 30-plus years’ experience in cybersecurity, risk management and commercial experience in the UK, US and Nordics – much of it at board level.
A former CISO and CSO, his career encompasses senior positions at BT, National Grid, IBM, TDC Group and Airbus UK, giving him unique insight into the fast-evolving area of critical national infrastructure security – with special expertise in energy, telecommunications and the aviation industry.
Stanton was instrumental in setting up global programmes on cyber-resilience for the World Economic Forum and sat on the advisory board for the Information Security Forum. He has extensive experience of supply chain security and has also sat on boards in the marketing sector and commercial services.
At Bridewell, his immediate priorities include driving further engagement and traction across critical infrastructure security services in the UK and US as well as supporting the setting up of a new Customer Advisory Board to gather customer feedback and help guide the development of new service offerings based around key customer requirements.
“I’m looking forward to my new role at Bridewell, and to using the experience and knowledge that I have developed over decades to help take the company forward and build on the CNI growth strategy in the UK and US,” Stanton said. “I have been on both sides of the cybersecurity business – as a supplier and an end-user – which gives me valuable insights into the cybersecurity market and how it is likely to develop.
“A vital part of our strategy must be to listen intensively to our customers. I have known Bridewell since its inception and have always admired what Anthony and Scott have achieved. I love the ethos and culture of the company as well as its ambition, so it is a natural fit for us,” added Stanton.
Anthony Young, Chief Executive Officer, Bridewell, said: “I have known Ray for over 15 years, he has been a great friend, mentor and I have a huge respect for what he has achieved in terms of building high performing security teams, establishing businesses internationally and his reputation across the industry. I am looking forward to working more closely with Ray as he helps us implement our strategy, serving the needs of existing customers and expanding our client base. Ray combines extensive knowledge of cybersecurity in CNI with genuine commercial acumen and business intuition. I know his contribution as an adviser to the board will be invaluable.”
