Legal & compliance cyber security seminar for Dubai

Individuals and Businesses in the UAE could lose millions if they remain vulnerable to cyber attacks, according to recent reports.

To educate and raise awareness on cyber vulnerability, Millennium Insurance Brokers, an insurance advisory and broking firm, in association with Clyde & Co., are organising a seminar on Cyber Risks and Security in Dubai on November 10, 2016 at Hotel Al Murooj Rotana Dubai. The seminar will present an overview on aspects involving risks under cyber and how one can alleviate them by using various strategies to extend cyber protection to all technological essentials.

The seminar aims to educate and advise corporates and individuals on various cyber risks and security issues and how one can mitigate them,” said Albert Rodrigues, Managing Director, Millennium Insurance Brokers. “It will also include a session on compliance and legal aspects under cyber law, governing Information Technology in the UAE. The sessions will be followed by Q&A’s which will assist audience to raise additional queries and get solutions”.

Speaking further on the subject, Albert said that, “the potential losses could be in the form of losing data or getting data corrupted, expenses incurred in notifications and from liabilities and obligations to protect personal and corporate data. Some of the losses that have been documented by companies in the recent past include losses due to network interruption and rectification, cyber extortion, cyber theft by intruders and employees, credit & other financial thefts as well as E-Communication losses. He further stressed that mitigating these losses was critical and this could be achieved by understanding risks and implementing appropriate systems and procedures to supplement the loss due to cyber catastrophes. This seminar will provide attendees a unique platform to understand the dynamics linked to cyber risks and security measures”.

The seminar will witness three sessions of 45 minutes each in total, out of which two will be presented by one of Europe’s leading Cyber experts Gary Hibberd, the Managing Director, AGENCI, United Kingdom and the other session by a legal expert in cyber risks, Shabnam Karim, Senior Associate for Clyde & Co LLP, Dubai office.

The topics will include introduction and overview on Cyber and its risks, the key security tangles faced by Cyber users for business and personal use, Case studies in the region, measures to protect and extend a good Cyber protection and also discussions on legal compliance in sync with Cyber laws of UAE and how one could seek legal measures to protect and engage fool-proof Cyber Security plan to fulfill their business and personal objectives.

The event will witness participation of some of the top CEO’s, CFO’s, IT professionals and Finance Heads from various sectors from UAE as well as individuals who would want to learn on Cyber Risks for their business and personal records.
